FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is coaching the same thing as therapy?

No. Coaching is a non-clinical, non-therapeutic engagement that focuses on present tense patterns and behaviors, as well as future oriented goals. Coaching does not explore issues of childhood trauma or the management of mental health conditions.

Why should someone consider coaching?

Coaching is a proven process that provides structured support and resources from a trained professional, enabling individuals to progress farther and see greater results than if they were doing the work alone.

Three unique benefits of coaching include:

  • An unbiased, safe space for reflection and exploration

  • A structured process, guided by a trained professional with experience helping people get results

  • A system of accountability to ensure application and follow through

What kinds of situations can coaching help with?

Coaching can support a variety of situations but the focus at Posa is on building the social-emotional skills and boundaries to recognize, improve, and (if necessary) exit unhealthy relationships. By improving your social-emotional skills, and developing a concrete action plan, you are positioned to navigate your current circumstances and relationships, as well as, apply those same skills to future challenges. Consider the following prompts. If any of these apply to you, coaching can help!

  • Are you struggling with how to manage a difficult relationship and need time and space to process the right approach?

  • Are you exhausted and burnt out from being taken advantage of in relationships and need to build the skills to say no?

  • Do you recognize that your relationships are stressful, toxic, or draining but don't know what to do about it?

  • Are you struggling with how to set boundaries in relationships?

Is coaching confidential?

Yes, coaching is confidential. The only exception is if you share something that indicates you may be a danger to yourself or others, in which case I would call 911 to attempt to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you.
